This Week

Trying on shoes

Tree destroyed the dog run in our yard - good thing we don't have a dog!

CHOA ER

As we were leaving a restaurant on Saturday night, AK was being really wild and squirmy.  Ben tried to pick her up by her arm and she started screaming right away.  When she was still crying after we got home, we realized she wasn't just being dramatic.  The urgent care near our house sent us to the ER at CHOA.  We were preparing ourselves for a long night at the ER, but we had the shortest and most pleasant visit ever!  The whole trip (including valet parking on both ends, registration, waiting room, seeing the nurse, seeing the doctor, getting fixed up (her elbow had to be popped back into place - the results were IMMEDIATE!), picking a sticker, picking and eating a popsicle, doing the insurance paperwork, and checking out) took less than 30 minutes!  We didn't even have time to take any pictures (other than this waiting room one):

Lila's New Tricks

Over the last month or so, Lila has learned quite a few new tricks.  Most importantly, she learned how to crawl!  Here is her first real crawl (I had to bribe her with AK's shiny Mardi Gras beads which are definitely NFB (not for baby), but it worked!)

She is a much better crawler now and while she isn't particularly fast, she can eventually get herself where she wants to go.

Here are a few of her tricks that we managed to get on video:

Clapping

Waving

Touchdown!

Her other tricks are sitting up all by herself, giving high fives, waving bye bye (not totally reliable with this one, but she does always wave bye bye to AK in the morning at school drop-off), saying "mama" and "dada" (also questionable - she definitely says the words but they aren't always in the proper context), doing the sign for milk, and finding and eating even the most minuscule crumbs and pieces of dirt from the floor.

Another fun trick is not sleeping for more than 2 hours at a time at night.  Everyone loves that trick!  Hopefully her problem is teething or all the trips to Lakemont that we've been doing and she'll get back to her normal schedule of only waking up once at night soon.  Otherwise, look for her on ebay - she'll be very reasonably priced!
