Cute

Party!

My old boss hosts a big party for what seems like everyone she's ever worked with.  Even though I haven't worked for her in years, I still show up at the party every year!  This year we got to show off Anna Kate - she was the hit of the party.

First Trip to Ellijay

We drove from Columbia, SC to Ellijay, GA to spend some time with Mimi and Pop Pop at their mountain cabin. It was very relaxing, and we enjoyed the mountain air. Anna Kate also loved her first real fire in the fireplace.

Also, gone are the days of packing light. This was just some of the stuff we brought for our one night stay!

A Parrish Family Christmas

Most of the Parrishes (lucky Uncle Marty & Aunt Georgette spent the holidays in Hawaii) made the trip to Columbia on Christmas day for a low-key dinner of chili (thanks Jack & Frances!), cornbread (thanks Neni!) & red velvet cake (no holiday would be complete with out Aunt Cynthia's cake!) We then had a spirited White Elephant exchange where everybody went home a winner (if you stretch the definition of winner...)

The Many Moods of Christmas

Partly out of necessity (AK is still a "happy spitter") and partly out of a need for cuteness, AK wore at least half of her Christmas outfits on Christmas day.  Here are the ones we managed to take pictures of:

You know it's true!

Christmas Snuggles!

Christmas is the perfect time for snuggling.

Merry Christmas!

On Christmas morning, Henry and Robin woke us up bright and early at 6am so we could all see what Santa brought.  Although Henry had been up for hours, it took the rest of us a few minutes to get going.  Anna Kate put on the first of her MANY Christmas outfits and we headed to the fireplace to see what the jolly old fellow had left.  Much to her delight, AK received two D batteries (for her swing) and a tangerine (tradition) in her stocking.  YAY!  She was pretty excited!

After a quick snack and necessary outfit change we opened more presents (AK scored big with a ton of new clothes, a pair of sunglasses and a sun hat, a crib mobile, a Temple basketball shirt, a disco ball and a complete set of Little House on the Prairie books among other things.)

'Twas the Night Before Christmas

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.

Anna Kate's stocking is the little one :-)

Pre-Christmas Festivities in Columbia

We spent a few days before Christmas in Columbia celebrating with the Freemans & Parrishes.  Anna Kate had her first visit to the Bistro at Still Hopes with Great Grandmother and Great Uncle Robert; met Great Aunt Kim, Great Uncle Mike and their children (first cousins once removed?) Parker and Caroline; played with cousin Henry, Aunt Katie, Uncle Matt & Aunt Robin; and shared lots of snuggles with Neni & Pops.

Here are some pictures of Great Grandmother's Christmas Eve visit with Anna Kate.  She will be 100 years old in February!

We didn't realize until hours later that we had the top of this outfit on backwards!  Oops!

Henry was so cute with Anna Kate - he would bring her a toy if she cried and say "uh oh" and get a burp cloth if she spit up.

 Great Aunt Kim & Caroline:

More Christmas outfits!  This was the Christmas outfit that mom put me, Katie & Robin in for our first Christmases.  It has a Christmas mouse wearing ice skates on it - how appropriate!  Also note that General Chen is decked out for the holidays too!

Anna Kate is getting better with the bottle - as long as you give it to her before she gets hysterical.  If you wait too long, only Momma will do (can't say I hate that!)

Singing/dancing hats seem to be all the rage this Christmas.  We "won" one in the White Elephant gift exchange with the Lawders and another TWO showed up in Columbia.  It was hard to say who loved them more - Henry, Anna Kate or Pops.
