This New Jersey winter has been endlessly long and miserable. We have gotten ridiculous amounts of snow (around 3 feet), it has been bitterly cold, and there is no end in sight! The latest disaster is that the two feet of snow and ice on the roof of our brand new pantry caused it to start leaking (the melting snow didn't have anywhere to go except down into the house because the gutters were full of ice)! It leaked all the way down into the basement.
We had to rip out the entire pantry and spend two days yelling at each other as 8-10 massive (and LOUD) fans dried it out. Thankfully the fans were removed yesterday and now we are just waiting on our insurance company to get their act together to come out and look at the damage. Hopefully we can start rebuilding it soon because the lack of insulation is making the whole house cold.
It warmed up a bit today (it's in the low 40s now!) and is raining which is helping some of the snow melt, but there are still 10-20 foot snow banks on almost every corner which makes driving treacherous. If I never seen another flake of snow in my entire life it will be too much! Is it spring yet?
