Total Eclipse!

The real reason for our trip to Columbia was to be in the path of totality for the eclipse on Monday. All week the weather was looking iffy, but we decided to wait it out instead of heading somewhere with a better forecast. We really lucked out - it was cloudy on and off during the hour and a half leading up to the total eclipse and there were mega clouds moving in, but a few minutes before the designated time, the shrinking sun popped into a small clearing and stayed there until about three minutes after the total eclipse was over!

We all couldn't believe the way the light changed in the minutes before totality and the swiftness with which the dark descended upon us as the moon fully blocked the sun.

I'm so glad we were able to experience the total eclipse!

baby's first eclipse!

stay away clouds!!

General Chen fell for the eclipse hysteria and insisted on wearing his glasses inside even though he faces away from the sun!
