After Vermont, we drove an hour or two over to New Hampshire and Mount Washington, the highest peak east of the Mississippi. While we do love a good hike, we opted for the Cog Railway to the top of the summit. For our Atlanta readers, this is similar to the Incline Railway in Chattanooga but with an actual train pushing the cars instead of a cable pulling up. The summit is known for having some of the most erratic weather on earth (the highest windspeed ever recorded by man was at the top - 231mph!).
